Description: Common name: Japanese Holly. Ideal for topiary as the small rounded leaf looks almost the same as Buxus sempervirens. Very tolerant of pollution

Uses: A good substitute for Buxus sempervirens

Climate/Position: Sunny site to partial shade, exposed sites and coastal locations

Height/Spread: Topiary Shapes

Soil Requirements: Prefers an acidic soil. Topiary can be grown in pots or containers

Pruning: Trim annually with topiary shears or hedge-cutters in early or late summer to keep specimen in shape

Special Requirements: Suckers and unwanted branches can also be removed from the stems
