Description: Common name: Common Walnut. Large majestic tree, reasonably fast growth. Smooth grey bark. Medium sized, pinnate leaves, 5 ? 9 pairs, and 1 terminal leaflet, turn yellow in autumn

Uses: Grow as a specimen tree

Climate/Position: Shelter from strong winds, protect from late frosts

Height/Spread: Height 15 metres

Soil Requirements: Best in good deep soils

Pruning: Little or no pruning required. Grown for timber, remove side branches, grown for fruit remove central leader at a manageable height

Special Requirements: Fruits are unlikely to be produced for 12/15 years
