MAGNOLIA grandiflora 'Alta'

Description: Common name: Bull Bay ?Alta?. Evergreen upright shrub, with fragrant white flowers in summer. The leaves have a light brown hairy underside

Uses: Use in compact gardens where other varieties of Magnolia would be too large

Climate/Position: Fully hardy but may need protection from strong winds

Height/Spread: growing to a height of 3.5 metres and a width of 1.5 metres

Soil Requirements: Humus rich, well drained soils, best grown in neutral to acidic soil

Pruning: Little or no pruning is required, if any is needed do it after flowering up to the dormant winter period

Special Requirements: Mulch the plants each year
