Common name: Laurustinus 'Eve Price'
Family: Viburnaceae
Origin: South Eastern Europe and Mediterranean
Description: A pink tinged form of the reliable and easy-to-grow Viburnum tinus. Dark green foliage and long-lasting flowers in flattened heads from December to April. The pink flower buds open to tiny, star- shaped white flowers followed by dark bluish black berries
Uses: Ideal for brightening partly shady areas when little else is in flower
Climate/Position: Full sun or partial shade. Can be grown in deep shade but will produce less flowers in this situation
Height/Spread: Will not grow much higher, but the plant will increase in size over time
Soil Requirements: Any moist well drained soil
Pruning: Trim annually with topiary shears or hedge-cutters in early or late summer to keep specimen in shape. Suckers and unwanted branches can also be removed from the stems. Older plants will rejuvenate well if cut back hard in late spring
Special Requirements: Over recent years there has been an increasing problem with the incidence of Viburnum Beetle. The larvae (grub) emerge in the spring and can cause considerable leaf damage to the young shoots. It is possible to spray in early spring to reduce damage
Additional Interest: Awarded the RHS AGM
