Ficus carica 'Noire de Caromb' (FIG)

Description: Common name: Ficus carica 'Noire de Caromb' (FIG). Deciduous tree with medium sized black fruits. Best planted against a wall in a sheltered position, this ripens the fruit earlier in the UK

Uses: Can be grown for its large deeply lobed leaves, or for its fruit

Climate/Position: Cold tolerant variety, making it suitable for growing in the UK

Height/Spread: Unpruned will grow up to 4 metres high

Soil Requirements: Will grow in most soil types, can also be grown in pots

Pruning: Prune in the dormant season, November to January, this avoids the white sap which oozes out of pruning cuts in summer

Special Requirements: Skin irritant with sunlight
