Description: Common name: Oak Leaved Hydrangea. Deciduous shrub with double white flowers in late summer, July to September. As the flowers age they take on a pink tinge. The oak shaped leaves turn bronze purple in autumn
Uses: Can be grown in a woodland setting or by a stream edge. However, good in any partially shaded border providing the soil is moisture retentive
Climate/Position: Full shade or partial shade
Height/Spread: 2 metres x 2 metres
Soil Requirements: Moist well drained soil, humus rich with added compost is preferable as the plants do not like to dry out
Pruning: Cut off last year?s flower heads to a strong pair of buds in spring after the frosts. Remove unwanted or thin shoots cutting to the base of the plant
Special Requirements: Application of well-rotted manure or compost before planting is highly recommended as well as an annual mulch in spring to help retain moisture
