Prunus per. nectarina 'Silver Prolific' (NECTARINE

Description: Common name: Prunus persica nectarina 'Silver Prolific' NECTARINE. Red nectarine with an excellent flavour.

Uses: Can be grown in containers as an ornamental shrub, the bright pink flowers open in spring

Climate/Position: Protect from winter rainfall to control leaf curl, and shelter from frost when in flower, place under protection, or use fleece

Height/Spread: Will grow to 150cm high

Soil Requirements: Well drained soil, grown in a container a soil-based compost should be used, such as John Innes number 3

Pruning: Little or no pruning is required on this dwarf variety

Special Requirements: Self-fertile. Dwarf habit. If grown in a container watering will need to be done throughout the growing season

Additional Interest: The fruits are smaller than a normal Nectarine, dark red smooth skin, ripens in August and September
