Description: Common name: Japanese Wisteria. Flowers pale rose, tipped purple, held in long racemes from May to June

Uses: Grow over a sturdy pergola, a strong trellis or on wires strung along a house or garden wall

Climate/Position: Plant in full sun

Height/Spread: 8 metres, by 6 metre spread

Soil Requirements: Prefers good loam soil

Pruning: Prune the long shoots in August back to 5 or 6 buds, prune again in the winter, this time to 2 or 3 buds, this creates stumpy spurs that are flower buds

Special Requirements: Harmful if eaten
